I'm nestled here in the library at Penn State-Harrisburg in chilly, quasi-industrial Middletown, PA and this is the unofficial seed sowing of Tangentry (the Tangent Tree), a web log that's meant for us to enjoy. This is a long time coming, and I have only an abstract idea of how it'll turn out, but let's hope we turn nothing into something. My name is Padraic (pay-drick) and I'll be your host. I love the internetz and the dazzling infinity one can discover on it, and I'd like nothing more than to pass it along to friends, that's you, and that's all. Hopefully 'Tangentry' will grow strong and tall.
This time of year is the easily the best for getting your music game up. For the next few weeks I'll be busy collecting a.k.a. stealing songs from all over the place as people post their year-end best of (2008) lists and enhancing the booty that I've already assembled over the past four seasons. Next I'll cold-filter and get proper Hyped* on what sweetens my personal ear/head/heart space to produce the real best "best of" list and then the chuck it up here for y'all to sample as you please.
*there are a few sites that I compulsively visit and should be made familiar to everyone. 'The Hype Machine' is one of them and was invented for me by and old chum, nurse-in-training Amanda Zapcic a few moons back (a thousand thank you's a-zap).
-another feature destination is the brilliant 'Said the Gramophone' where among myriad treats you must check out this piggybacked delight. Ladies!
Thanks so much for coming. Talk to you soon.
Oh, and P.S. just caught a series from the people at Vice about a national high school surfing competition (Ocean City, NJ cold season ten-hanging = raw viscious). High school surfing teams are real, just not in central PA.
